Essex Rock & Mineral Society Firstly a big thank you to all those that came along to the Show at Collier Row and in particular Bob Williams who made an extraordinary effort not only to man the Club stand but had designed the display. Despite everything having once committed himself he kept his word and came up with the goods. Well done Bob.
Bob Williams manning the Club stand and ever smiling. One of our visitors to the Show kindly sent in a number of photographs to me and those used in this article are all by June Sullivan. Thank you June for thinking of us, it is always nice when someone outside the Society contacts us about the Show. I also had a nice letter from Neil Morris, who was next to me at the Show, and wishes to thank the members of the Society for their help and to say how much he enjoyed being there. This also came from others who traded at the Show expressing their thanks to the Society. So to next years show. This will be our 25th show on the 17th February 2007 at the North Romford Community Centre and I feel it is a compliment to the Society for achieving this despite the inroads made to attendance by the more "Commercial Shows" that occur before ours. What can we do to make it an even bigger success? The main profit to the Club comes from the number of people actually visiting so I ask every member to bring along one new visitor . Never been to a mineral and fossil show( let alone your own Society's) then you don't know what you are missing. You have your world of geology in one small space. These actually become quite a social event and conviviality flows around tea, coffee and bacon sarnies in the refreshment area. Where to find us? Below is a picture of the hall in Clockhouse lane in Collier Row.
The North Romford Community Centre, Clockhouse Lane, Collier Row. Does anyone know of a company that would help sponsor the Show 2007? Not necessarily all our costs but a donation towards say advertising, hall hire, etc.. Your ideas are welcome. Much of our success results from the distribution of flyers and to this end we need a stunning central image to catch peoples eye. Could a sponsor provide money to do a colour poster? This would be a first for us. Please respond to this appeal with ideas and book Saturday the 17th Feb 2007 in your diary NOW. Who do you talk to ? Try this man below!!!!!!

The article above first appeared in the Society's newsletter posted to members but excluded the photographs because of keeping publishing overheads to a minimum. These are the only photographs submitted by anyone! There are three others by June Sullivan from this year's show the best of which follows. RC/07/05/2006
