Crabs from Tankerton (Martin Rayner's Collection)

1a, 1b, & 1c are specimens of:
Cyclocorystes Pulchellus.

(Don't worry about the names, they just look like fossil crabs to me! If you really are into names ask Martin, that's why he is leading the field trip.)

These to specimens came from the
the display marked Tankerton Tray 7.

(I don't know the species but as with all
these specimens, you are looking at the common morphology to group them together.)

Others in this tray had similar characteristics to the one on the left, especially in the central region. I don't know whether the one on the right is the same species? They don't seem that similar taken out of context of tray 7 for comparison. Martin did say what they were, but it just went in one ear and out the other. (I don't specialize in fossil crabs).

These specimens come from the Tray marked:
Portunites Incerta. The lower one of the two specimens on the left is facing the other way up to the other views.

All of the above specimens are somewhat larger than their actual size. Of those on display many were no bigger than my thumb nail! I hope the above gives members an idea of what the Tankerton location has to offer.
